GUIDED MOUNTAIN BIKING
If you’d like to get some exercise during your stay and would like to see some of the outskirts of the village at the same time, get on a bike and join one of our Guided Mountain Bike Tours.
Our Guided Mountain Bike Wine Tours takes you to 3 superb wine farms in the Franschhoek area for wine-tasting, beautiful views and scenic rides.
Our Village Ride is a 20km ride around the outskirts of the town and visits the Berg River Dam along the way. You have the option of stopping off for a cup of coffee at our local roastery on your way back into town.
Our Sundowner Tour is a late afternoon short ride to 1 farm for wine tasting and a lovely ride through the vineyards. This quick and easy tour is great for getting into the swing of things the day you arrive.

BIKE VILLAGE TOUR
For a trip without wine farms, our 20km Guided Mountain Bike Village Tour follows a circular scenic route around the village. It offers beautiful views of the mountains, the wine and fruit farms surrounding the village and is relatively non-strenuous apart from a small incline.
As an optional extra: Should the mood take you, we stop off at our local Coffee Roastery for a cup of freshly brewed java and a sweet snack. Just the thing to keep you going on our last leg home. Please choose that option when selecting the rate.

BIKE WINE TOUR
We meet at the Franschhoek Adventure Centre in the Main road of the village to be kitted out with a bike of the appropriate size, and a safety helmet.
After a short safety briefing and discussion of the farms to be visited, we head off to our first farm. The first part of the route takes us through the quiet residential area and on through a pretty vineyard. You are reminded that we ride on the left side of the road until we reach the bicycle track or a gravel shoulder.
We visit 3 wine farms with a short ride between each farm. At each venue you will be offered a variety of wines to taste and the sommelier will be on hand to provide interesting information on the wines chosen.
After our 3rd farm we have a quick 10 minute ride back into town.

SUNDOWNER BIKE TOUR
A 2 hour guided afternoon mountain bike ride through the vineyards with a wine tasting.
Ride through some of Franschhoek’s beautiful vineyards as the sun is starting to go down. Stop for a wine tasting (or pairing for your own account), at our favourite wine farm before heading back into town, in time for you to get ready for your dinner. This leisurely ride is the perfect way to end the day.
Departs Daily at 10am & 1pm (Village & Wine Tours) and 3pm (Sundowner)
From the Franschhoek Adventure Centre. Scheduled Pickups Available upon Request.
Details & Itinerary
We meet at the Franschhoek Adventure Centre where you will be fitted to a mountain bike and collect your safety helmet.
After a safety briefing, your guide will lead you through the village to the various routes depending on which tour you have chosen.
You will retun to the Frasnchhoek Adventure Centre at the end of your tour.

- Cell phone Camera for special memories and Social Media sharing
Wear:
- Comfortable clothing but cycling gear is not necessary
- Closed shoes

We depart from and return to the Franschhoek Adventure Centre which is at Shop 5, upstairs @ 62 Huguenot Rd, Franschhoek (right next to the Tourism Office).
